Sponge Cola conquers the Middle East

FRESH from their successful performances at the prestigious annual Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, pop-rock band and Diamond Record awardee Sponge Cola recently broke new grounds, this time at the Middle East in a series of special performances.
Composed of Yael Yuzon on guitars and lead vocals, Tedmark Cruz on drums, Armo Armovit on lead guitars, and Gosh Dilay on bass, Sponge Cola recently scored the prestigious Diamond Record award for the overwhelming sales of their single “Tambay,” exceeding over 250,000 sold units in the summer of 2011.
Sponge Cola was the only Filipino band that was invited to perform at Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, which is the birthplace of rock ‘n roll. Aside from Sponge Cola some of the other featured artists in this year’s Beale Street Music Festival were Al Green, Pitbull, Evanescence, Anthony Hamilton, Lupe Fiasco, and Whiz Khalifa among many other iconic American artists.
Sponge Cola performed their original hits such as “Stargazer,” “Lunes,” and “Tambay” before a mammoth crowd of 20,000 at Beale Street. Sponge Cola recently gave the same powerful performance this time in Abu Dhabi at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club where they were the featured band in the Middle East leg of “Four The Best” which stars top Filipino comics Pokwang, K Brosas, Pooh, and Chocolate. The band also performed a series of special concerts in nearby Dubai where other Beale Street alumni Evanescence and Wiz Khalifa are also set to perform.
Sponge Cola’s current full-length studio album under Universal Records “Araw, Oras, Tagpuan” is still available in all leading record bars nationwide. For booking contact 0917-5337268. - Malaya Business Insight
