MANILA, Philippines – “X Factor Philippines” contestant Mark Mabasa became a trending topic on Twitter locally right after he was voted off the show on Sunday.Apparently, many netizens believe that Mabasa should’ve stayed in the contest.
“I feel so bad that Mark Mabasa has to struggle hard to show his vocal prowess, while others can get away w/ circus acts,” said one.

“I was brokenhearted this morning.. Tapos pag check ko sa google ikaw na out..para akong sinaksak ng dalawang beses @markmabasa,” posted another.
“ibalik si @markmabasa #xfactorph!” added yet another obviously disappointed fan.
A deadlock factored in on Mabasa’s eventual elimination from the contest after he and vocal group, Take Off, received the lowest number of votes for the week.
To further advance, Mabasa had to perform James Ingram’s “There’s No Easy Way” while Take Off did a version of Secondhand Serenade’s “Fall For You.”
Judges Martin Nievera and Pilita Corrales, impressed with Mabasa’s performance, both voted to take out Take Off. But Groups mentor Gary Valenciano wanted to protect his own and voted for the ouster of Mabasa. Charice Pempengco, on the other hand, opted for Mabasa.
Under “X Factor” rules, if the 4 judges’ votes are deadlocked, the contestant with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. This led to Mabasa’s eventual downfall as he received only 3.72% of the votes compared to Take Off’s 3.90%.
As if readying themselves for the backlash, Take Off posted the following statement in their Twitter account upon announcement of last night’s results.
“Please don’t hate us. Mark Mabasa and Takeoff just didn’t get enough votes. All of the #XFactorPH finalists are excellent and deserving. ♥♥♥”
Valenciano also explained his decision via Twitter saying, “I simply stood by my team. It boiled down to who ppl voted 4. I spoke to @markmabasa after the show. Told him I know God has gud plans 4 him.”

Mabasa as with Pempengco are mum on the matter as of this writing.
Continuing with their fight on “X Factor Philippines” are Modesto Taran and Joan Da in the Over 25 category; Take-Off, Daddy’s Home and AKA Jam in the Group category; Jeric Medina, Gabriel Maturan, and Kedebon Colim in the Boys category; KZ Tandingan and Allen Jane Sta. Maria in the Girls category.
