POSITION SUMMARY
The Acceptance Business Leader has the responsibility for deepening and broadening Visa's relationship with key strategic merchants, and ultimately developing meaningful and profitable merchant relations. The primary focus will be to oversee the development and implementation of acceptance strategies that grow the penetration of electronic payments in designated merchant segments to drive the increase of Merchant Sales Volume (MSV) via merchant initiatives and projects that will grow revenue
The Business Leader is responsible for understanding and communicating local market needs in order that the Singapore Hub is able to effectively and efficiently define market specific strategies to support the Vietnam team in managing strategic Acceptance issues. This position is responsible for working with the Head of Acceptance for SEA & AUNZ and sales colleagues as the industry and thought leader amongst our clients and partners. The role is required to work in conjunction with both Singapore Hub to learn and transfer best practice learning to support the implementation of merchant initiatives in Vietnam and Indochina. The role must establish and foster strong relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
More specifically, the role encompasses management of merchant acceptance matters, which involves creation of compelling value propositions for merchants and merchant acquiring institutions to:-
  • Increase Merchant Sales Volume (MSV) in traditional and emerging merchant segments such as bill payments and global/local strategic merchants
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for key strategic merchants
  • Develop greater awareness and support of merchant acquiring and direct relationships with key merchants
  • Oversee Merchant incentive programme management and participate in the development of merchantdevelopment activities

  • Reports directly to Head of Acceptance, SEA & AUNZ
    JOB SCOPE
    The Business Leader should have the ability to:
  • Build strong relationships with staff at all levels at key merchants and merchant acquirers thereby understanding their business priorities and drivers well
  • Know how Visa's products and acceptance services can meet our clients' needs
  • Identify and translate business development opportunities into compelling business cases
  • Implement successful marketing programs and initiatives that capture the essence of Visa's and the merchant partner's proposition, thereby driving MSV
  • Key Result Areas
  • Plan Acceptance strategy for Country market, and identify merchant segments and specific measurable initiatives for development and implementation.
  • Drive Visa's acceptance strategy into key everyday segments, with a primary focus of opening up new segments for accepting cards
  • Increase Visa MSV, market share, and influence client and merchant-consumer preference of Visa
  • Implementation of Acceptance strategy for Country market.
  • Direct in-market Acceptance funds to ensure that all goals are supported in a cost effective, timely manner, with a resulting high level of client satisfaction
  • Actively promote best practices, education and sales efforts with merchants and clients related to Visa Acceptance.
  • Successfully translate strategies into specific objectives and action plans, aligning efforts with other key Visa stakeholders
  • Establish and foster relationships with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels of staff
  • Support local BDM team and Country Manager with their sales efforts. Maintain current knowledge of technologies, products, services, methods and applications and implement new approaches and practices as required
  • Ensure a sound and healthy working relationship with the key merchants in Country in both traditional and new merchant segments

  • Make decisions on marketing message that represents Visa's merchant value proposition

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    Professional
  • Professional Degree with 6 to 10 years in relevant experiences
  • Understanding of Credit and Debit Cards payments business
  • Understanding of Merchant Acquiring and retail business
  • Financial Transaction processing knowledge

  • Technical
  • Working knowledge of Visa systems
  • Working knowledge of payments network and processing services
  • Knowledge of the full breadth of acceptance and other products and services
  • Microsoft office tools e.g. Powerpoint, Excel, Word etc
